Ratings & Reviews 1 Unisex GPS Watch is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 5. Rated 2 out of 5 by macaree101 from Miss advertised Product return to the store as it does not contain GPS tracking/waypoints or a compass as confirmed by the crane support team. Date published: 2015-06-30 Rated 2 out of 5 by John8oy from Works ok tracking, but has been mis-sold I bought this watch to use on my mountain bike for two purposes. To track my trails, and also use to navigate new trails and waypoints. The Aldi website states the watch supports GPS navigation and Waypoints, but so far I've found no way of doing this, maybe I'm missing a hidden function, but so far I've drawn a blank. If I'm proved right and is feature is not support then I'll probably return the device and revert to using my iPhone until I find a replacement device. Another disappointment is thee doesn't appear to be an auto-pause/unpause feature when for instance you stop mid-trail for a snack etc. the timer just continues to tick on by. Ok can can press stop manually, but then your at risk of forgetting to press start - a bit of a deal breaker for me. Having stated the negatives, the rest of the device works well and is well suited to those wanting accurate mapping of Runs. GPs files auto sync to the smart phone App. To add your route to Strava or mapmyrun etc you need a PC or Mac to download the file from the Crane website, then manually upload it to your chosen resource, a bit fiddly if your used to using a native smartphone app, but the plus side is you can preserve your smartphone battery and safely lock it away. Also the watch GPS is pretty accurate once it locked onto a sat. Hope this review helps somebody out. Rgds John Date published: 2015-06-29 Rated 4 out of 5 by El Rico from Good so far :) Set up was fine, menu system is a bit complicated and I had to keep referring to the manual, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Took for a test run: It took a LONG time to find a GPS Signal, but once it had one it worked fine. Also used the HR strap with no problems. Finished my run and synced with the iPhone app no problems. As has been mentioned the app and webpage look terrible (kind of like somebody's A-Level project or something...) but does the job. If you're a Strava user its a bit long-winded to upload (you have to download the gpx file from the website, then log into Strava and upload), but you get there in the end and all the relevant data is there. Over all excellent value! All worked as it should for me. (Would have given it 5 stars if I didn't have to wait ages for a GPS signal and if the app was a bit nicer to use and connected with the other popular fitness tracking apps. These may be cured with future firmware updates..?) Date published: 2015-06-29 Rated 4 out of 5 by Micky Mouse from Great features for the price. First synch buggy. Amazing amount of features for the price. Heart rate monitor, GPS tracking, dual time zone watch, alarm clock, picks up the correct time from the GPS satellites etc etc Initial setup of the watch is very easy. Getting the App from the Google store was again very straight forward. Bluetooth pairing the watch to the heart rate monitor was no problem. Pairing the watch to the App for the first time seemed easy; the App said it had a connection but then the challenges started. When i tried to sync the data from the watch it failed & said there was no connection. Even though the App was reporting that it was paired to the watch, it said 'device not connected' when pressing the button to get it to sync. Then, I gave up, decided that I would take the watch back ... only to find that after leaving it for 10 minutes it started a "firmware update" from the App to the watch. Anyway; after about another 15 minutes the firmware update completed, the watch rebooted (which reset its settings & erased the data from a previous run). But after that it synced to the App without a problem. Phew! So ' recommend to try to get it to do the firmware update before first use to avoid loosing any data. It seems as if the sync function is polled from the App to the watch but that it's not instantaneous. It maybe takes a few minutes before the App polls the watch for a sync? Or maybe Bluetooth is just slow. Not sure. After the firmware update it seems to work OK; albeit a little slowly. The Crane Sports App isn't the most beautiful piece of software but it does a reasonable job of tracking exercise activity. It requires you to sign-up online & provide some personal details which is a bit of pain ... but i guess those details don't have to be totally honest ;-) ... although it will require you to use a valid email account in order activate your account. Date published: 2015-06-29 Rated 1 out of 5 by Shawford Cobbler from Broke before first use Completely stopped working after attempting to sync with Iphone. A product that should not be on sale until further development and testing. The firmware is obviously very flaky, insufficiently tested. Do not buy this product.
